Platelet Rich Plasma
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a form of regenerative medicine that uses a patient's own blood components to stimulate healing and rejuvenation. It involves the extraction of a small amount of a patient's blood, which is then centrifuged to concentrate cell fragments called platelets. This concentrated solution, known as PRP, is then injected or microneedled back into the patient's tissue to be treated, releasing growth factors that stimulate and increase the number of reparative cells the body produces.
In dermatology, PRP therapy has gained recognition for its ability to stimulate collagen and elastin production, improving skin tone and texture, and reducing signs of ageing. It's particularly effective for treating difficult areas, such as the delicate under-eye region
PRP can be used to treat and assist with the regeneration of many pathologies, however, excluding medical treatments (for now), we will be focusing on:
-
Acne scars
-
Fine and deep lines and wrinkles
-
Reduction of large pores
-
Hyperpigmentation
-
Reversal of sun damage
-
Lifting and tightening
-
Increase Collagen production and skin elasticity
-
Breast lift
-
Stretch mark reduction
-
Surgical scar reduction
-
Improve skin texture and tone
-
Natural replumping
(PRP) is an extremely effective tool in regenerative therapies, fighting the signs of ageing, from within. Being completely autologous (Everything we use comes from your own body, no additives), this treatment utilises the platelets in your blood to instigate a healing response. Many cosmetic treatments have a degenerative effect over time, they can cause loss of muscle mass, nerve damage, spasms, necrosis, vascular occlusions and introduce foreign bodies into your bloodstream and in some instances, reduce your bodies own capacity to treat an issue if the tissue is damaged and an abnormal cell behaviour develops. They have a satisfying 'immediate' but temporary improvement but offer little to no therapeutic qualities.
This is where PRP differs. The platelets in your blood are healing powerhouses, they secrete a number of growth factors and proteins that initiate physiological wound healing. These growth factors stimulate the stem cells in your tissues to produce new cells. The proteins and growth factors also signal to surrounding tissues that work needs to be done to heal, and neovascularisation (the process of creating new blood vessels) begins, bringing nutrients to the area, essential for cellular repair and tissue regeneration.
Because of this 'Healing Cascade', the body produces new collagen and increases skin cell turnover. This results in a visibly and functionally less aged skin. Thus regenerative. PRP also improves with time, as your body is producing new cells and more collagen, primarily in the dermis supporting the skin, this process develops over time, with best results being seen 1-3 months after treatment and lasting up to 2 years and beyond.

A-B: The effect of PRP on epidermis thickness. D-E: Ki67+ cell proliferation resulting in a greater number of hair follicles post treatment. The health of cells and thickness of this layer greatly affects the presentation of our skin. PRP is potentially the most effective anti-ageing tool, rejuvenating and preventing age related damage.
Blood Profiling
Full blood analysis allows you to take full control over your health and make informed decisions about diet, exercise and supplementation. Sometimes it can be hard to feel listened to in healthcare environments and the services are so over stretched that testing is difficult and limited to one issue at a time. We use the same fully accredited pathology lab as the NHS, you can take your results to a GP or nutritionist or any kind of medical professional with a FULL stack of blood work trusting its validity to all healthcare providers. We will inform you as soon as your results are available.
Regular blood analysis is a crucial tool for maintaining optimal health, nutrition, and longevity. It provides a wealth of information about your health status, offering insights into various components in the blood such as red and white blood cells, platelets, and plasma. Our WellMan and WellWoman profiles include HS-CRP, a measure of inflammation in your body. Inflammation left unchecked can wreak havoc on your bodily systems with symptoms such as: Myalgia, chronic fatigue, depression, insomnia, anxiety and mood disorders, weight gain and loss and many other conditions affecting wellbeing and quality of life. As inflammation can damage healthy cells, tissues and organs leading to DNA damage and cell dysfunction, getting inflammation under control and monitoring its status is an incredibly powerful tool in improving health outcomes and general wellbeing.

Shockwave Therapy
Low intensity Extra-Corporeal Shockwave Therapy is an exciting and well studied, non-invasive therapy. It is simple in its concept, but has some incredible studies behind it and a proven track record of delivering physiologic and dermatologic results.
The basic principle is the targeted application of acoustic shockwaves at very specific energy densities and frequencies: Imagine a trampoline, a big round one. There is a queue of 20 people each waiting to have a go. Each person represents one unit of energy density (mJ/mm^2). With just one person on the trampoline, the energy density is low, if all 20 get on, the energy density is high. Now imagine all those people jumping at the same time, the number of times they jump together in a minute is the frequency (Hz): Less jumps, low frequency; more jumps is high frequency. The number of people and how frequently they jump has a dramatic effect on how the trampoline responds. Your tissues are the trampoline.
The shockwaves (people jumping) cause the spontaneous formation of micro-bubbles, gases expanding in response to the applied acoustic energy. This create micro-trauma (small tears in the trampoline surface). Your body then recognises this micro-trauma and initiates a healing response by breaking down damaged tissue and creating new, healthy tissue. It has been shown to work even in connective tissues, notoriously difficult healers due to differences in cellular and vascular properties of connective tissues compared to muscle.
This is the very simplified mechanism behind shockwave therapy. In reality there are protein and tissue interactions and alterations in gene expression and remodelling of tissue structures and all kinds of cellular interactions inducing a therapeutic effect.

There are many more applications of Li-ESWT. New research is continuing at an exponential rate and we fully expect to see a massive growth in treatment options as new protocols are developed.
This is an in-out treatment, no downtime and completed in minutes after your initial consultation.
Massage & Sports Therapy
There are many forms of massage, all with their own merit and application. Sports massage is the identification and treatment of adverse pathology, musculoskeletal and nervous tissue. This will involve full postural analysis to assess causes of issues you may be having and what is really responsible.
Massage Therapy aids in the release of growth factors and cytokines (your bodies signalling molecules) from the local pathology environment, assisting recovery and repair. Postural analysis will help to identify focus: do you have cross body syndrome, anterior pelvic tilt or have your glutes become inactive on one side compared to the other? We will identify these problems and apply a range of therapy, manual techniques and strategic elongation to repair joint, muscle and nervous tissue, returning you to a more functional state of health.
Anti-wrinkle Injections
Botulinum toxin (BoNT) is a neurotoxin produced by Clostridium Botulinum bacteria. It has 8 different forms, A-G, with A being the most potent and the one primarily used in medicinal and cosmetic applications.
BoNT Stops muscle contraction by binding to receptors on motor neuron nerve terminals preventing the release of Aceytlcholine at the neuro-muscular junction. This is done by cleaving a protein SNAP-25, which is responsible for the docking and fusion of acetylcholine vesicles into the synaptic cleft.
Without acetylcholine release, the post-synaptic muscle fibres do not get the stimulus that causes contraction. The muscles are paralysed.
Toxin injections are a safe and effective way of reducing the appearance of, and formation of new static and dynamic wrinkles. A well studied and tolerated treatment that can be performed in 15 minutes. Your anatomy will be assessed to determine the correct protocol for you.
